Member of the Brazilian Institute of Tax Law – IBDT and the Institute of Tax Studies - IET. Giovani A. Saavedra

Giovani Agostini Saavedra is a lawyer with more than 15 years of experience in Cyber/Digital Law, Compliance, Data Protection, and Corporate Investigations. He was elected the most admired professional in Brazil in the Compliance segment by Revista 500 in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021, and by Compliance On Top in 2021.

He holds a Law degree (PUCRS), a Master's in Law (PUCRS), and a PhD in Law and Philosophy from Johann Wolfgang Goethe – University of Frankfurt am Main (Germany).

He has received several distinctions for his contribution to the Compliance field, including one at the Law and Technology Symposium at the University of Berkeley (California – USA) and from the Institute of Criminal Studies - ITEC in 2019, and the Mención Honorífica from the Movimiento por la Integridad en Latinoamérica in 2022 in "recognition of his excellence and performance in promoting Integrity, Governance, Risk Management and Compliance in Brazil and Latin America."

He is internationally certified by the most respected certification in the field of Anti-Money Laundering Prevention, the Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), in Cyber and Digital Law from the University of Berkeley (California – USA) and by EXIN, one of the most respected worldwide in this segment.

He is also a professor at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie – SP (undergraduate, specialization, master's and doctoral programs), where he teaches Corporate Governance, Compliance and Data Protection, advises master's and doctoral theses on the subject, and coordinates the Compliance Specialization at that university.

He was also a researcher at the Institut für Sozialforschung (Germany, Frankfurt am Main) and Secretary-General of the Transdisciplinary Institute of Criminal Studies (ITEC), of whose Board he is a permanent member.

He is a founding partner of Saavedra & Gottschefsky – Advogados Associados (www.saavedra.adv.br), which has actively provided legal advisory and implemented Compliance and Privacy Governance programs for companies in all segments.

He is also leader of the Study and Research Group in Ethics, Anti-Corruption & Compliance at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie – SP.

He is the current President of the Brazilian Association of Auditing, Risk Management and Compliance (ABRARC) and of the ARC Institute – Auditing, Risk & Compliance.

In the field of anti-corruption, he has a prominent role in the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), being a member of the Special Compliance Commission of the OAB Federal Council and former President of the Special Commission on Anti-Corruption of OAB/RS (2016-2021).
